HOW TO THROW (For Right Handers)

-
Slightly windy conditions are best. (Of course too much wind will send your boomerang off course.)
-
Hold boomerang with flat side to palm.. Decorated side faces outward.
-
Determine wind direction. Face wind direction and turn your body a quarter turn to the right . This is your starting position to throw.
-
Grip boomerang with index finger and thumb around the lower part of the wing. Raise boomerang above right shoulder and release at... or up to a 20* off-vertical angle (similar to throwing a baseball). Release with a slight whip-like flick of the wrist as the boomerang leaves hand with as much spin as possible.
-
Catch it!! It's coming back!! — Do this by a clapping motion of both hands.

Simply reverse directions above.

ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS:

-
Be patient. As with all new endeavors, allow yourself time to get the hang of it.
-
Experiment with different angles for different flight patterns: The more perpendicular the release, the more stable the flight, and the circular pattern will be lower to the ground.. A more pronounced angle will send boomerang on a higher flight.
-
Tuning: If you’re not quite satisfied with the flight of your boomerang, you can safely tune your boomerang to achieve a higher or lower flight. Recommended tuning technique is to gently bend wing tips about 0.12 in (3 mm) above the plane of the vertex (this is called giving the boomerang a positive dihedral.) To do this it may be necessary to heat the boomerang to make it flexible enough for bending and to make the adjustment permanent. Heating may be done over steam or by the heat of a standard hair dryer. Twisting the wings to raise or lower the leading edges can also affect the boomerang's performance. Bending upward will give a higher flight, while bending wings downward encourages a lower flight.
-
We realize you know this already, but it bears repeating: Make sure you have plenty of room for your boomerang flight. It’s no fun to lose your toy to a tree or rooftop. (We know this by experience) - That being said, don’t throw toward people, structures, asphalt (which will ruin edges)

Enjoy! It’s the most fun way ever to get exercise.
